Directors General of Military Operations of India, Pakistan speak to each other

Amid the continued firing across the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir, the Directors General of Military Operations of India and Pakistan have spoken over the telephone hotline.

The two spoke on Tuesday to discuss the unprovoked ceasefire violations by Pakistan. India warned Pakistan against the unprovoked violations by the Pakistan Army along the LoC.

Sources said the two sides are mandated to speak once a week over the hotline that connects the two DGMOs in New Delhi and Rawalpindi. “It was a routine call,” in which the matter of firing was raised, a source said.

This morning also, there was an exchange of fire along the LoC as Pakistani troops resorted to unprovoked firing along the International Border in the Jammu region, prompting Indian forces to “respond effectively”, officials said on Wednesday.

It marks the sixth consecutive night of ceasefire violation by Pakistan along the LoC, amid heightened tensions between New Delhi and Islamabad following the Pahalgam terror attack.
