Watch: How an 81-Year-Old Found New Beginnings Behind a Snack Stall in Borivali
You don’t expect to see an 81-year-old man running a snack stall on a busy Mumbai street, but that is exactly where you will find Mansukh Dada every morning, calmly preparing fresh farsan in Borivali West. Life did not give him an easy ride. He spent years working at a saree shop, but when the pandemic hit, he lost his job. His son was laid off, too.
With no income, rising medical bills, and dwindling savings, things could have easily fallen apart. But Dada is not someone who gives up.
After the lockdown, he decided to start over. With whatever money he had left, he set up a tiny roadside stall near Jain Derasar in Saibaba Nagar. He began selling snacks, not for sympathy, but for survival, for his family, and himself.
Today, even though his son is back on his feet working as an accountant, Dada still shows up at the stall every day. Because in a city like Mumbai, one income rarely covers it all. More importantly, he believes in showing up, in doing his bit, and in standing tall no matter what life throws at him.
He is not asking for charity, just your respect. If you ever find yourself in Borivali West, stop by his stall. Buy a packet of farsan. Support a man who refused to let age, hardship, or the world tell him it was time to stop. Because for Mansukh Dada, love for family does not retire, and neither does courage.
