In a video message shared alongside the post, PM Modi reflected on the values championed by Basaveshwara, including dignity of labour, equality, and purposeful living. He quoted the saint’s famous saying “Kayakave Kailasa” — signifying that hard work is equal to attaining the divine. He added, “Lord Basaveshwara showed us the path of karma — serving and assisting other living beings.”
The Prime Minister noted that his government’s schemes and initiatives reflect Basaveshwara’s principles of “Kayaka” (work) and “Dasoha” (service), and credited the saint for laying the ideological foundation of democratic values, education, and social justice in India.
“The strength of a nation is determined by the strength of its foundations. I convey my best wishes to all followers of Basaveshwara within India and around the world,” he concluded, as per a report on IANS.
Meanwhile, Karnataka BJP President BY Vijayendra also paid tribute to Basaveshwara. He lauded the saint’s role in leading a social revolution and promoting Vachana literature, calling him a “world teacher” who worked toward building an egalitarian society.
