Kuldeep Yadav SLAPS Rinku Singh twice after DC loss to KKR, raises memories of Sreesanth’s ‘Slapgate’ as video goes viral, WATCH
Defending champion Kolkata Knight Riders superb win over Delhi Capitals in their IPL 2025 match at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on Tuesday was soured a bit with an off-field incident which is going viral on social media. DC chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav slapped KKR batter Rinku Singh twice, raising memories of decades old ‘IPL Slapgate’ controversy involving Harbhajan Singh and S Sreesanth.
In the viral video, both cricketers – who play for Uttar Pradesh team in first-class cricket – were seen having a laugh with few of the other players. However, Kuldeep suddenly slapped Rinku twice (maybe in a playful manner) but it was not well received by KKR star.
Rinku was shocked by the action and he even looked enraged before having a conversation with his India teammate. There is not enough context to the entire incident as no audio was available, fans on social media were not pleased with Kuldeep’s action and went as far as to demand for his ban from BCCI.

In the inaugural edition of IPL in 2008, Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) pacer S. Sreesanth was slapped by Mumbai Indians captain Harbhajan Singh. The former India off-spinner later revealed that Sreesanth had provoked him with some on-field comments.
Coming back to Kuldeep Yadav-Rinku Singh incident, the KKR batter had smashed DC spinner for 17 runs in his third over of the match which included a six and a couple of fours in the over. It is possible that the DC bowler wasn’t pleased by the treatment handed out by Rinku Singh.
Meanwhile, KKR kept their hopes of qualifying for IPL 2025 Playoffs alive with a 14-run win over DC. They now have 9 points from 10 matches and can still possibly qualify for the Playoffs if they win their remaining 4 matches.
Speaking after the match in the post-match presentation, KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane said, “When Sunil came into the bowl and picked up two wickets, and when they lost three wickets in the middle, I thought that was the game for us. We felt we were short (with the bat). Sunil bowled well, good support from (Andre) Russell, and (Anukul) Roy bowled well. He has been doing well for us, thought let us back him.”
