Bengaluru Boy Stripped, Filmed & Blackmailed For Money By 'Social Media Friends', Mother Files Complaint

A disturbing case of online deception and blackmail has surfaced in South Bengaluru, where a 16-year-old boy was allegedly assaulted and filmed in a compromising situation by a group of men who later attempted to extort money from him. The victim’s mother filed a complaint with Adugodi police on April 25, nearly three weeks after the incident.

The Incident

According to the complaint, the crime occurred on April 5 between 3 PM and 8 PM. The victim, who told his mother he was visiting a friend, returned home at 9 PM visibly distressed. After repeated questioning, he recounted the harrowing events of that day.

The victim was reportedly lured to a parking lot near Wilson Garden by someone he had befriended on social media. There, five boys allegedly attacked him, forcibly removed his clothes, and coerced him into making a false video confession. In the video, he was made to claim he had created explicit content involving women and extorted Rs 50,000 from one of them, as per a report on The New Indian Express.

The gang then demanded Rs 10,000 from the victim, threatening to release the video online and cause him physical harm if he spoke to anyone.

Investigations revealed that the victim had known one of the suspects through social media for over six months. Their interaction began when the victim lent the man his earbuds and phone, of which only the phone was returned, reported Times of India. Their communication ceased around three months before the incident.

However, on April 5, the same acquaintance reportedly approached the victim near NIMHANS and persuaded him to meet, reported Times of India. He then led him to a secluded parking area, where five accomplices were waiting. The group allegedly used a stick to threaten the victim, forcibly stripped him when he resisted, recorded the video, and issued their threats before letting him go.

The Adugodi police have launched a probe and are working to identify and apprehend those involved.
