The Jammu and Kashmir Police has strongly rejected social media claims that the mother of martyred Constable Muzamil Rashid was sent back to Pakistan. A police spokesperson called the reports “false, baseless, and completely untrue” and urged the public and media not to spread misinformation that could create confusion or distress.

The clarification comes as the Indian government has asked all Pakistani nationals to leave the country following the Pahalgam terror attack, in which 26 people — including 25 tourists and a local guide, Syed Adil Hussain — were killed. Several others were injured in the incident.

So far, over 30 Pakistani nationals have been deported from Jammu and Kashmir as part of a central government decision to expel Pakistani citizens staying in India.

Most of those deported from the Jammu and Kashmir regions had either overstayed their visas or had entered the Union Territory on visitor permits. Officials said more deportations are expected in the coming days.

In a separate move, 60 Pakistani nationals — mainly the wives and children of former militants — have also been sent back. They had returned to Jammu and Kashmir under a 2010 rehabilitation policy introduced by the then government led by Omar Abdullah. The policy was aimed at helping Kashmiris who had crossed over to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir during the early years of militancy.

Reports say that of these 60 individuals, 36 were living in Srinagar, nine each in Baramulla and Kupwara, four in Budgam, and two in Shopian.

These deportations were carried out following an order from the Ministry of Home Affairs (Foreigners-I Division), Order No. 25022/28/2025-F, dated 25 April 2025. The order directed all Pakistani nationals living illegally in India to leave by April 27, 2025.

The Pahalgam attack has drawn widespread condemnation from people across Kashmir.
