Pimpri-Chinchwad Civic Body To Launch Major Citizen Survey Under ‘PCMC@50’ Initiative

The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) is advancing its "PCMC@50 City Strategy" with a major citizen survey set to engage 20,000 residents across PCMC limits in the coming days. This follows the successful completion of Focused Group Discussions (FGDs) held during the first three months of 2025, which saw participation from approximately 1,500 stakeholders and provided valuable inputs for the city’s future development.

The survey—an essential step in shaping PCMC’s growth by 2032, when the city completes 50 years—will be conducted by over 250 women from various Self-Help Groups (SHGs), empowering local communities and promoting inclusive urban planning. A training session for the surveyors was held on Monday, at the Acharya Atre Rang Mandir Auditorium. The session was attended by Deputy Commissioner Anna Bodade and Assistant Commissioner Tanaji Narale and was organised by Tata Strive in collaboration with PCMC’s City Transformation Office to prepare participants for effective survey implementation.

Scheduled to begin in the first week of May 2025 and expected to conclude within three weeks, the survey will cover a diverse range of groups, including slum households, formal residential households, commercial establishments, and institutions, ensuring comprehensive representation.

PCMC Commissioner Shekhar Singh urged citizens to actively participate, stating, “To plan the future of Pimpri-Chinchwad, a representative survey of citizens from various sections of the city will be conducted under the ‘PCMC@50’ initiative. For this, 250 women from the city’s Self-Help Groups have been trained. Citizens are requested to cooperate with these women during the survey to ensure the inclusive development of our city.”

PCMC Deputy Commissioner Vitthal Joshi added, “The PCMC@50 Strategy focuses on key areas such as urban mobility, environment, technology, governance, infrastructure, and economic development, building on insights from the FGDs and the upcoming survey.”
