Wife turns out to be mastermind behind Jhajjar man’s murder, held
The district police today claimed to have solved the murder case of a migrant labourer whose body was found in a park near the Ballu Wali Kui area two days ago. The investigation revealed that the victim’s wife — driven by an illicit affair — was the mastermind behind the killing.
Inspector Vivek Malik, In-charge of CIA Jhajjar, said Chunni Lal, a native of Aligarh (Uttar Pradesh) currently residing in Yadav Colony, Jhajjar, filed a complaint on April 26 reporting that his elder brother, Jasveer, had left home intoxicated that night and never returned.
“Chunni Lal and Jasveer’s wife Mamta then searched for Jasveer in the city and eventually found his body lying near the park. The body bore strangulation marks on the neck and head injuries, clearly pointing to a brutal murder. Following this, a case was registered at Jhajjar City police station,” said Malik.
He maintained that with no initial suspects, the case appeared to be a blind one. However, under the direction of Jhajjar Deputy Commissioner of Police Logesh Kumar, an investigation was launched.
“Based on clues, we detained two suspects — Mamta and her neighbour Hari Om (another labourer) of Rahaniya Colony in Jhajjar city — for questioning. During preliminary interrogation, it came to light that Mamta and Hari Om were in an illicit relationship for the past few months and had conspired to kill Jasveer,” Inspector Malik claimed.
He maintained that during interrogation, Hari Om confessed to luring Jasveer to the park, giving him alcohol and then striking him on the head and strangling him with a cloth. “Mobile phones belonging to both the accused have been seized for forensic analysis. Both of them were produced in a local court which sent Mamta to judicial custody and granted one-day police remand for Hari Om for further interrogation,” Inspector Malik added.
