JCT Mill workers’ PF safe, assures commissioner

In a significant development concerning the long-pending concerns of JCT Mill workers, Pankaj Kumar, the Provident Fund Commissioner, Jalandhar, visited Phagwara today along with officials from the Employees Provident Fund Organisation. During his visit, he held a crucial meeting with mill workers, which included senior leaders from the Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) led by Sharadanand Singh.

Speaking on behalf of workers, Sharadanand Singh informed the PF Commissioner about the severe financial hardships faced by employees due to the non-payment of their PF contributions, pending salaries and allowances.

Addressing workers’ concerns, PF Commissioner Pankaj Kumar assured employees that the money deposited in their provident fund accounts was entirely safe. However, he clarified that the department had not yet received the required employee data from the company, he said. “Once the data is submitted, the online claim process will begin. Due to the current manual processing, delays are expected, but workers’ savings are secure,” the PF Commissioner said.
