Vice Chancellor Open Badminton Tourney concludes

JAMMU, Apr 29: The Vice Chancellor Open Badminton Tournament concluded with great enthusiasm at Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-J), Chatha campus. Organized under the supervision of Dr. Sudhakar Dwivedi, Dean Student Welfare, the three-day tournament saw spirited participation from over 50 students, faculty and staff members.
Prof. B.N. Tripathi, Vice Chancellor, graced the closing ceremony as chief guest and presented trophies to the winners. He applauded the participants for their sportsmanship and emphasized the importance of sports in fostering unity, fitness and discipline.
In the students’ category, Antargya (4th Year Agriculture) emerged victorious in men’s singles defeating Gurtez (2nd Year Agriculture) while in men’s doubles the duo of Gurtez and Antargya clinched the title against Kashish and Sachin.
The women’s singles title went to Sumbul (2nd Year) with Takshi (3rd Year) finishing as runner-up. Fiza and Rithika won the women’s doubles, while Sumbul and Takshi were the runners-up. In a spirited mixed doubles match, Antargya and Shreya outplayed Gurtez and Fiza to win the title.
In the teaching staff category, Dr. Sushil won the singles title with Dr. Amitesh finishing as runner-up. In the doubles, the pair of Dr. Vinod Gupta and Dr. P.K. Rai won the tournament while Dr. Sushil and Dr. Amitesh finished runner-up. In the mixed doubles event, Dr. Sushil teamed up with Dr. Puja to claim the title defeating the team of Dr. Amitesh and Dr. Julie D Bandral. All the statutory officers of the university were present during the award ceremony.
