Do not cancel visit: Jammu tour operators to tourists

Tour operators from Jammu have appealed to visitors from across the country not to cancel their trips to Jammu and Kashmir following the Pahalgam terror attack. They emphasised that such cancellations could significantly damage the Union Territory’s economy, which heavily relies on tourism.

Ravi Sagotra, chief of the Jammu Association of Tour Operators, stated that security arrangements have been strengthened across the UT to ensure the safety of visitors. During a media briefing, Sagotra acknowledged concerns among tourists regarding their travel to Kashmir but assured that the government “has ensured sufficient security arrangements.” He urged people from all parts of the country to visit J&K and explore its various attractions.

“We have seen over 40 per cent cancellation requests from tourists in J&K. This is the crucial time of year when those dependent on tourism earn their livelihood. The large number of tourists checking out of hotels and guest houses has raised serious concerns among stakeholders,” Sagotra explained.

Sagotra advised that numerous rumours circulating on social media should be disregarded, and those planning to visit J&K should rely on official advisories.
