Mob assaults cop at Bishu fair

Several people have been booked for allegedly assaulting a police constable during the Bishu fair in Kupvi, Shimla district.

According to reports, the constable, who was on duty, saw a group of people shouting and asked them to stop. This led to an argument that soon turned into a scuffle.

During the altercation, the constable’s uniform was damaged. He managed to detain one of the accused and attempted to take him to the police station.

However, as he was leaving, a mob surrounded his vehicle, threatened him with stones and a local weapon, snatched the vehicle key, and freed the detained individual. The Chopal DSP confirmed the incident. He said a case has been registered.
