CM Adityanath slams Samajwadi Party for 'shameful' statements on Pahalgam attack
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath | PTIUttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath lambasted Samajwadi Party leaders for their many “shameful” statements on the terror attack on tourists in Pahalgam.
The CM said it was difficult to make out whether such statements were coming from Indian leaders or spokespersons for Pakistan.
The CM’s most obvious reference was to Akhilesh Yadav who he said had not visited the home of Shubham Dwivedi in Kanpur because he did not belong to the Samajwadi Party. Dwivedi was one of the 26 people killed in the terrorist attack on April 22.
Adityanath said Yadav’s statement was “unfortunate and shameful”. While the whole country had risen above party lines to condemn the violence, the Samajwadi Party was making such statements, the CM said, and claimed that the party seemed to be giving a clean chit to Pakistan.
Yadav though, in the past few days, said his party stands with the government on the harsh measures taken against Pakistan and that even harsher measures should be taken against the country.
Adityanath also blamed the Opposition for doing politics of casteism, divisiveness and appeasement. He said the Congress, Samajwadi Party and others made a malicious attempt to play with the security of the country and its people. This was happening at a time when the entire nation was speaking out in one voice against terrorism, and standing behind Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The CM, who was speaking at a public meeting in Deoria on Tuesday, said before 2017, there was only disease, hooliganism, anarchy and chaos in the district. Even festivals could not be celebrated peacefully. The young were forced to migrate and farmers were forced into taking their lives. Many of the most marginalised castes like Musahar and Vantangiya were victims of starvation. At the same time, those who were in power during that time enjoyed peace and prosperity as they were confined to their own families. All this had changed in the last eight years, the CM claimed.
