NIA Officers Meet Wife Of Bengaluru Resident Killed In Pahalgam Attack

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has intensified its probe into the terror attack that struck Baisaran Valley in Pahalgam on April 22, claiming the lives of 26 civilians, including several tourists. As part of the investigation, NIA officials visited Dr Sujatha, the widow of Bharath Bhushan, a software engineer who lost his life in the assault.

The officials reportedly questioned her about the couple’s travel itinerary, her interactions during the attack, and any characteristics she may have observed about the assailants, as reported by The Indian Express. She was also shown suspect sketches believed to be connected to the incident in hopes of finding any leads.

On April 18, Bharath Bhushan had flown to Kashmir with his wife and toddler on a family vacation which ended in tragedy just four days later.

NIA Plans To Meet Deceased Manjunath's Wife

The NIA also plans to meet the family of Manjunath, another victim from Shivamogga, Karnataka.

Earlier, Manjunath's wife, Pallavi recalled the horrific events, stating that the attackers did not ask victims about their religion—contrary to earlier claims made by some public figures, as per a report on Deccan Herald. Pallavi described arriving in Pahalgam at 12:30 PM, reaching Baisaran Valley by 1:30 PM, and being caught in the crossfire shortly after dismounting their horses, reported The Hindustan Times.

While the NIA has yet to formally visit Manjunath's family, it is said that a team will meet them in the coming days to document eyewitness accounts and gather additional evidence.

In an official statement, the NIA confirmed that its investigation is being led by senior officers, including an Inspector General, Deputy Inspector General, and Superintendent of Police. The agency is meticulously compiling witness testimonies and forensic data to trace the attackers and their possible affiliations.

Meanwhile, the Jammu and Kashmir Police have announced a Rs 20 lakh reward for actionable intelligence leading to the neutralisation or capture of the terrorists involved in the attack.
