The Locarno Film Festival has announced that Jackie Chan will be bestowed with the eminent Leopard of Honour (Pardo alla Carriera) at its 78th edition in August 2025. This lifetime achievement award distinguishes Chan’s significant contributions to cinema, especially his innovative blend of martial arts and comedy that has fascinated audiences worldwide.
Jackie Chan has had a distinguished career spanning over five decades, during which he has featured in more than 200 films. His unique style, combining martial expertise with comedic timing, has transformed the landscape of action cinema while bridging cultural gaps between Eastern and Western audiences. Chan’s impact is reflected in the works of numerous filmmakers and actors who have embraced inspiration from his approach to storytelling and stunt choreography.
The Leopard of Honour is awarded to individuals who have significantly impacted auteur cinema through creativity and audacious filmmaking. The award ceremony will be held at the Piazza Grande in Locarno, Switzerland, during the festival scheduled from August 6 to 16, 2025.
