RBI On 100-200 Rupee Notes: The Reserve Bank of India has directed all the banks and white label ATM operators of the country to increase the availability of 100 and 200 rupee denomination notes in their ATMs.
Indian Currency: When you go to withdraw money from a bank ATM, it is often seen that small value notes do not come out from the ATM and you have to withdraw 500 rupee notes, but now the Reserve Bank of India has taken a big decision on this problem and has instructed the banks (RBI To Banks) to ensure that 100 rupees and 200 rupees notes also come out from the ATM.
It is necessary to increase the availability of 100-200 notes
The central bank on Monday directed the banks that to increase the availability of these notes to the general public, it is necessary to ensure that currency notes of this value come out in sufficient quantity from the ATM. RBI has issued a circular in this regard and it has been said that banks and white label ATM operators (WLAO) will have to implement this instruction in a phased manner.
It is worth noting that ‘White Label ATMs’ work like ATMs of government and private banks. It is installed by private or non-banking financial companies (NBFCs) instead of banks. With these, you can use the facilities like cash withdrawal, balance check or all those facilities through debit card and credit card which are available in other ATMs.
What is in RBI’s circular?
If you look at the circular of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), it says that this decision has been taken to increase the public’s access to these frequently used denomination bank notes. Under which, now all the banks and white label ATM operators of the country are required to ensure that their ATMs also dispense Rs 100 and Rs 200 notes on a regular basis.
It further states that by September 30, 2025, 75 percent of all ATMs (Automated Teller Machines) should dispense at least one cassette of Rs 100 or Rs 200 denomination bank notes. After this, in the next phase, by March 31, 2026, 90 percent of ATMs should dispense at least one cassette of Rs 100 or Rs 200 denomination bank notes.
ATM will become expensive from May 1!

Actually, if any transaction is done from an ATM machine outside the home bank network, or the balance is checked, then the user will have to pay more charge.
Let us tell you that at present also the charge for using ATMs outside the home bank network is applicable and it is going to increase further from May 1. This increase is part of the amendment approved by RBI on the basis of the proposal of National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI). According to the report, till now if the customers used to withdraw money from the bank ATM of any other network instead of their home bank’s ATM, then they had to pay a charge of Rs 17 on every transaction, which will increase to Rs 19 from May 1. Apart from this, if the balance was checked from the ATM of any other bank, then a fee of Rs 6 was charged on it, which will now be increased to Rs 7.
