New frog species found in Bastar, taking total count in region to 21
Bastar's biodiversity has been further highlighted with the discovery of the Assam Pygmy Frog, Chirixalus simus, alongside three other frog species, bringing the region's total to 21. Researchers Dr. Dutta and Dr. Mahapatra reported the finding in Kanger Valley National Park, emphasizing Bastar's rich flora. The Assam Pygmy Frog, a tree-dwelling species, lays eggs in a frothy layer on leaves.
