Islamabad: Pakistan has reportedly shifted its F-16 fighter jets in Gwadar as it fears a major retaliatory actions from India after the Pahalgam terror attack. Pakistan is worried that India could track its F-16 jets using the radar of the Russian-made S-400 missile system. Pakistan also fears that if it uses the F-16s against India, it might anger the United States, as the US had sold these jets to Pakistan with the condition that they would only be used for anti-terrorism missions. As a result, Pakistan has deployed JF-17 fighter jets along its border with India.

Pakistan Deployed F-16s in Gwadar

According to a report, the Pakistan Air Force has shifted more than half of its fleet of advanced F-16 fighter jets to the Pasni Airfield located in Gwadar on the Arabian Sea coast. The primary reason for this move is to keep these aircraft out of range of India’s S-400 missile system. If Pakistan were to operate these jets near the border areas, India would be able to monitor their every movement.

It is important to note that India had signed a deal with Russia for the supply of five squadrons of the S-400 missile system, worth USD 5.43 billion. The S-400 is a long-range, surface-to-air missile system developed in Russia. It is designed to detect, track, and destroy aircraft, drones, and missiles at a range of up to 400 kilometers. Russia claims it is the most powerful air defense system in the world. Currently, only four countries possess the S-400: India, Russia, Turkey, and China.

India has disclosed the locations where it has deployed the S-400 missile systems. However, it is believed that these systems are stationed at key strategic locations across the country. Some reports suggest that two S-400 squadrons have already been deployed in different regions of India, although there is no confirmed information about the exact deployment sites. It has been speculated in some reports that India has positioned these systems near its borders with China and Pakistan.
