Campus notes: ‘Screen Fasting’ Initiative launched
BVM SEC -39 proudly announced a one-day Screen Fasting initiative aimed at promoting health awareness and detecting potential health risks among students, parents and staff. For the entire day, parents were encouraged to observe Screen Fasting on the second Saturday of each month. The initiative encourages students to spend quality time with their families, away from artificial screen-based entertainment. All teachers of the school pledged to observe screen fasting themselves and raise awareness about its benefits. Principal Upasna Modgil welcomed this initiative, emphasizing that screen fasting would help nurture fundamental and spiritual values within society and families. She also highlighted that the practice could reduce family disintegration, fostering human, moral, and spiritual growth in students.
World Design Day celebrated
CT University’s Department of Design and Innovation recently celebrated World Design Day with a vibrant and creative event, showcasing innovative projects centred on sustainability and creativity. The event featured a stunning collection of work under the theme of sustainability, with students presenting eco-friendly creations made from materials such as newspaper, jute, fabric waste, denim waste and green leaves. The creations included outfits, wall art, home décor pieces and floor mats, all reflecting the department’s commitment to sustainable fashion and creative design. The event also highlighted technical expertise in illustrations, crocheting, fabric manipulations and surface ornamentation. A special highlight was the “Banjara Collection,” which fused traditional craftsmanship with modern aesthetics, offering a unique take on cultural fusion in fashion design.

Prize Distribution Ceremony held
Fervour, enthusiasm and cheer filled the environment of BCM College as the Annual Prize Distribution event, Shabashiyan 2025, was organised on the college campus. Principal Dr Monika Dua welcomed the esteemed Chief Guest, Prof (Dr) Gursharn Jit Singh, Principal of SCD Government College, Ludhiana. Dr Singh addressed the gathering, emphasising the importance of honing life skills such as empathy in future educators. Sh Gaurav Munjal, President of the College Managing Committee, urged the students to be passionate about their profession and prepared to meet the challenges of 21st-century classrooms. Dr Prem Kumar, Secretary of the College Managing Committee, motivated the students to work hard and pursue righteousness to become valuable assets to society and the nation. The event honoured merit holders in academics and the winners of various competitions, including the Panjab University zonal and inter-zonal skill in teaching, on-the-spot teaching aids preparation competitions, youth and heritage festival, PU Sports Competitions and inter-college competitions (2024-25).
Annual Convocation organised
Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines Ludhiana, organised its Annual Convocation for the academic session 2023-24 on April 27, 2025. Around 840 students received their degrees in Post-Graduation, Graduation, Postgraduate Diplomas and Graduate Diplomas. The ceremony was graced by Dr Anil Kumar Tripathi, Director of the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Mohali, who delivered the convocation address. Dr Tripathi was warmly welcomed by the Managing Committee, including Madam Kushal Dhillon, Manager KCW, Dr Kawalpreet Kaur, Director Dr Mukti Gill and Principal Dr Kamaljit Grewal, along with the staff and students. The Annual Report highlighted the achievements of the college in the academic year, showcasing students’ impressive performance, including 97 top ten positions in university exams, 43 Gold Medals and 38 Silver Medals in sports. The college also earned the 1st runners-up trophy at the PU Zonal Youth Festival. Special recognition was given to 21 students conferred with the Roll of Honour for excellence in various fields such as academics, sports, social and cultural activities. In her address, Principal Dr Kamaljit Grewal expressed the college’s commitment to nurturing holistic growth in students, thanking the managing committee for their support.
