Major fire in factory-cum-residence; owner, mother escape unhurt
A major fire broke out in a factory-cum-residence at Bandeyan Mohalla near Dal Bazaar on Monday morning. Since the area was densely populated, panic spread in the area. No casualties or injuries were reported in the incident. However, the owner suffered a huge loss in terms of goods and machinery.
The owner, Amit Chopra, and his mother narrowly escaped the blaze, which was brought under control after a struggle of three-hour by the firemen. The latter said that they had faced a lot of difficulty in reaching the spot as the road leading to the factory was narrow and the fire brigade could not reach the spot.
To combat the inferno, firefighters had to lay pipes from Daresi Road, where the fire tenders were stationed, to the affected area. According to fire officials, approximately 1,200-1,300 feet of pipes were used to reach the spot.
The factory, which manufactures garments, was located on the ground floor, while the owner and his family resided on the first and second floors. The owner recounted the incident and said that he woke up after he saw smoke billowing from the ground floor. He saw the fire on the ground floor and quickly sprung into action, evacuating his mother to safety before the flames spread rapidly throughout the building.
The fire was so intense that it caused huge damage to the property, including the destruction of household goods and equipment. Fortunately, the prompt response of the fire brigade managed to douse the flame. The fire brigade officials said the cause of fire was yet to be ascertained and investigation were on.
Fire in computer shop

A fire broke out in a computer shop in GTB Market (education hub) of Khanna in Ludhiana district late on Sunday. Seeing smoke coming out of the shutter, someone informed the shop owner. Laptops, LEDs, cameras and other valuables kept in the shop were burnt to ashes. The fire brigade team was informed about the incident, which reached the spot and controlled the fire after a lot of effort.
According to information, shop owner Ajit Sharma reached the spot as soon as he got information from the people. When he opened the shutter, the fire had engulfed the whole shop. It was controlled with the help of two fire brigade vehicles. A large number of education centres are located on several floors in the education hub.

Moti Bagh area
A car caught fire in Moti Bagh area of Jagraon in Ludhiana district. Seeing the smoke coming out of the car, some people informed the fire brigade, which reached the spot on time and controlled the fire. However, by the time the team reached, the front part of the car had been burnt and damaged completely.
Car owner Dalip Singh said that the car was parked outside the house in the sun since morning. Due to the intense heat, the car reportedly got heated up and caught fire. The fire spread so fast that the entire car got engulfed in it in no time.
