Now, apply to pension schemes online, CM Sukhu launches e-Kalyan Portal

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu launched the e-Kalyan Portal of the Department for Empowerment of Scheduled Castes, Other Backward Classes, Minorities and Specially Abled here today. It has been developed under the Him-Parivar portal.

The e-Kalyan Portal will enable all eligible applicants of the state to apply online for getting benefits under various pension schemes being run by the Directorate of the Department of Empowerment of Scheduled Castes. The Chief Minister said that providing social security pension to the needy was one of top priorities of his government. He reiterated the government’s commitment to functioning in line with the principles of a welfare state.

Sukhu said that eight pension schemes were currently operational in the state for the benefit of vulnerable sections of society. “Rs 1,410 crore was spent on these schemes in the last financial year and 824,928 individuals were benefited. An additional 37,000 beneficiaries will be included under the social security pension schemes in the current financial year and additional Rs 67 crore will be spent for the purpose,” he added.

The Chief Minister was informed that the e-Kalyan Portal was integrated with databases such as Him Bhoomi, Him Parivar, Aadhaar and PDS ration card. Applicants could apply directly or through Lokmitra Kendras by visiting https://himparivar.hp.gov.in/ekalyan. This initiative would discourage the applicants to visit government offices for certification or submission of applications. Updates regarding application errors, verification and approvals would be sent digitally, allowing applicants to track their applications from home. Director of Digital Technologies and Governance Nipun Jindal gave a detailed presentation on the portal.
