Breaking ground: HPSEBL women make their mark in national sports tournament
The Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board (HPSEBL) women’s team emerged victorious in the ongoing National Electricity Sports Control Board tournament, held in Shimla, defeating Maharashtra in a thrilling match. In the second women’s match of the day, Maharashtra secured a win against Haryana.
This prestigious competition, now in its 46th edition, has broken new ground by including women’s categories for the first time. The tournament, previously limited to men’s categories, has provided a platform for female players to showcase their skills nationwide.
HPSEBL Executive Director Isha Thakur expressed her delight at the inclusion of women’s categories, saying, “This provides a wonderful opportunity for our female players to demonstrate their kabbadi skills on a national platform.” Notably, Prafulla and Sakshi, talented players from the Himachal Pradesh Electricity Board, are part of the state’s women’s kabbadi team.
