Mother, 5-year-old daughter gangraped; girl strangled to death

The Jind police have arrested four persons, including a minor youth in a 35-year-old woman and her five-year-old daughter’s gangrape, and the girl’s murder case.

The police informed that the arrested accused have been identified as Hameed Khan (46), Biru (18), Shiva (19) and a 13-year-old minor. The police produced the three accused in court, which sent them to one-day police remand for further interrogation. The minor boy has been detained for juvenile proceedings.

The incident occurred on the night of April 21, when the primary accused Khan had a heated argument with the victim. Later, the accused, along with three others, sexually assaulted the woman and her daughter. The five-year-old girl was strangled to death.

The woman’s husband was not at home at the time of the incident. Sources said that the accused had dragged the woman to a garbage dump; hearing her screams, the girl followed her. She was assaulted and killed by the accused. The post-mortem report conducted by a team of doctors at the PGIMS in Khanpur Kalan in Sonepat confirmed that the child had been gangraped before death.

The police said that the family buried the body of the child, which was later exhumed after her mother regained consciousness and complained to the police. The police registered a case under relevant Sections of the BNS and POCSO Act and started investigation.
