LSG's Road To IPL 2025 Playoffs: A Look At Possible Ways For Rishabh Pant's Side To Qualify
Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) suffered a heavy defeat against Mumbai Indians in their recent fixture at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, which resulted in them moving down to sixth place with 10 points from 10 matches. Their Net Run Rate (NRR) has taken a hit too, as it currently reads -0.325.
In-order to stay in the contention for a top-four finish and secure a playoff spot, they must win at least three of their remaining four league matches. Three victories would bring them to 16 points, potentially enough to guarantee a place in the playoffs.
LSG’s IPL 2025 Journey
With 5 wins & 5 losses in their 10 league matches so far, LSG's campaign has been a mix of highs and lows.
LSG's Qualification Scenario
In IPL, 16 points is typically the threshold for securing a playoff spot and LSG will be aiming for that. The Lucknow-based franchise can take inspiration from Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), who made it through to the last four with 14 points last year.
If Lucknow Super Giants secure victory in all of their four remaining matches, they would finish with 18 points, which will further significantlly boost their chances of claiming the top-two spot.
The first qualifier of IPL 2025 will be played at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
LSG’s Remaining Matches In IPL 2025
Lucknow Super Giants will take on Punjab Kings in their 11th league match of IPL 2025 on Sunday, May 4, at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala. Following that, LSG will host Royal Challengers Bangalore at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on May 9.
Their penultimate league game will be against Gujarat Titans at Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium on May 14. LSG will conclude their group-stage campaign with a match against Sunrisers Hyderabad at Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on May 18.
