Actor Paresh Rawal says he drank his urine to recover from knee injury, Liver Doc calls it baseless

Actor Paresh Rawal revealed that he drank his urine in order to recover from a knee injury.
In an interview with Lallantop, the actor explained how he suffered a knee injury and found it difficult to recover from the damage. He said Veeru Devgn, Ajay Devgn's father, had visited him in Nanavati Hospital and told him about the injury.
He suggested that Rawal should drink his urine the first thing in the morning, apart from avoiding alcohol, mutton and tobacco. Paresh said he prepared himself to drink his urine the next day and thought if he had to do it, he would drink it like a beer.
The actor claimed that he drank his urine for 15 days and when the X-ray reports came in, the doctor was surprised. He also mentioned that it would have normally taken about 2 to 2.5 months for the injury to heal, but he was healed in a month and a half.
The statement sparked an online conversation about the medical claims raised by the veteran actor. Dr Cyriac Abby Philips, also known as 'The Liver Doc' on X (formerly Twitter) called the claims made by the actor baseless.
"Please don't drink your urine (or others) because a Bollywood actor says so. There is no scientific evidence to support the idea that drinking urine provides any health benefits. In fact, consuming urine can be harmful, potentially introducing bacteria, toxins, and other harmful substances into the bloodstream," mentioned his social media post.
'Urine is not sterile'
Dr Cyriac also mentioned how urine is a potent combination of salts and chemicals that our body is attempting to remove. Consumption of these chemicals can cause significant health problems.
"Paresh Rawal is the perfect example of the Indian WhatsApp Boomer Uncle. He's saying this to stay alive in the media," tweeted the Liver Doc on X.
