Prominent Malayalam rapper Vedan has been nabbed by Kochi’s Hill Palace Police on Monday morning for possession of ganja. According to reports, a group of nine individuals, including the rapper, were present in Vedan’s Thrippunithura flat during the raid, where seven grams of ganja was seized by the authorities. Following a confidential tip-off, the police arrived at the location at 10 am and conducted a search, after which the arrest was made.
Vedan, whose official name is Hirandas Murali, is best known for his work in the 2024 survival thriller Manjummel Boys, where he provided vocals for the hit song Kuthanthram featured in the film. He also lent his vocals for Narabali, featured in the Martin Prakkat directorial Nayattu.
The raid at Vedan’s apartment comes after another major bust involving Alappuzha Gymkhana director Khalid Rahman and Ashraf Hamza, director of Kunchako Boban-starrer Bheemante Vazhi. The pair, along with their friend, were arrested from their apartment situated in Kochi’s Marine Driv, on Sunday morning for possession of hybrid ganja.
Meanwhile, actor Shine Tom Chacko also came under fire after his Soothravakyam co-star Vincy Aloshious alleged that the actor used drugs while on set. Chacko and actor Sreenath Bhasi – who has previously been apprehended for possession of drugs – appeared before the Excise Deputy Commissioner in Alappuzha today after three kilograms of hybrid ganja were seized by their suppliers earlier this month.
