From Shoaib Akhtar To Wasay Habib: List Of Sports Channels From Pakistan Blocked On YouTube By India
A host of Sports YouTube channels have been banned from India, effective immediately, over the Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir that took place on April 22, Tuesday. With Pakistan's militant groups allegedly involved in killing at least 28 Indian tourists, the Indian government has taken action, banning Pakistani YouTube channels from operating in their country.
At least 28 tourists lost their lives and a handful of them have been reported injured as Pakistan militant groups allegedly shot them during the terror attack in Pahalgam. A father-son duo, belonging to Gujarat, are also included in the deceased list as the Indian government has taken several measures against Pakistan, causing a major geopolitical shift.
Meanwhile, the likes of Sports YouTube channels banned from India include that of former Pakistan cricketers in Tanveer Ahmed, Shoaib Akhtar, Rashid Latif, Basit Ali, popular content creators or accounts of Wasay Habib, Rizwan Haider, Aap Ka Mohsin Ali, Muneeb Farooq and Uzair Cricket. The list also includes BBN Sports and Samaa Sports.
Akhtar, one of the fastest bowlers to have ever played the game, particularly enjoyed a massive subscriber base, even amongst Indians.
Shahid Afridi's YouTube channel still active
Notably, Shahid Afridi's YouTube channel still remains active despite his recent obnoxious rants against the Indian Army, calling them out over not protecting their people.
The other notable Pakistani channels on YouTube which are still active are that of Farid Khan, Ahmed Shahzad, Kamran Akmal and Sawera Pasha.
"We will not play with Pakistan in bilaterals going forward" - Rajeev Shukla
During a recent interaction with Sports Tak, BCCI Vice-President Rajeev Shukla affirmed that the question of playing Pakistan in a bilateral series moving forward doesn't arise but they do so during global events for ICC engagement.
"We will not play with Pakistan in bilaterals going forward. We are with the victims and we condemn it. Whatever our government will say, we will do. We don’t play with Pakistan in bilateral series because of the government stand. And we will not play with Pakistan in bilaterals going forward. But when it comes to ICC event we play due to ICC engagement. ICC is also aware whatever is happening they will to it."
