Sharman Joshi, known for his acting prowess and impeccable comic timing, has showcased talent in numerous films. However, the last decade has been particularly challenging for him, as he struggled to gave a solo hit during this period.
Born on April 28, 1974, in Mumbai, Sharman made his Bollywood debut with Godmother in 1999. Unfortunately, the film failed to make an impact at the box office. Despite that, the actor continued to work hard and determined in pursuing acting.
His breakthrough came in 2006 with Aamir Khan starrer Rang De Basanti. Sharman garnered widespread recognition for his performance and made a mark in the industry with notable films like Golmaal, Life in a Metro, and Raqeeb. In 2007, Sharman earned success again with the comedy hit Dhol, and became widely popular for his roles in comedy genre.
In 2009, Sharman starred in 3 Idiots (2009) and gave a memorable performance alongside actors Aamir Khan and R Madhavan. The film became a global phenomenon and created milestone by becoming the first Rs 200 crore film.
Following the success of 3 Idiots, Sharman appeared in several films such as Allah Ke Banday, Gang of Ghosts, Super Nani, Mera Fauji Calling, Kaashi in Search of Ganga, Babloo Bachelor, and Music School, among others. Although, he garnered appreciation for his performances, but these movies failed to make an impact both commercially as well as critically.
Amid this tough phase, Joshi approached Salman Khan and talked to him about his struggles. Salman extended a helping hand and offered him a role in his recent release Sikandar. Unfortunately, Sikandar too couldn’t be a hit at the box office and became another dud in Joshi’s filmographies.
On the personal front, Sharman Joshi got married to Prerana Chopra, daughter of actor Prem Chopra, on 15 June 2000. The couple have three children- Khyana Joshi, and twins Vaaryan and Vihaan Joshi.
