Kesari 2 Box Office Collection Day 10: Akshay Kumar's Film Surprises By Earning ₹8.5 Crore, More Than Its Opening Day

Akshay Kumar's Kesari Chapter 2: The Untold Story of Jallianwala Bagh continues to surprise at the box office. After a noticeable drop during weekdays, the film saw a huge resurgence over its second weekend. On its second Sunday (April 27), Kesari 2 collected an impressive Rs 8.5 crore, a number that even surpassed its opening day collection of Rs 7.5 crore.

With this, the film's total earnings have climbed to a solid Rs 65.45 crore, according to Sacnilk.

The historical film, which delves into the untold events surrounding the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, had an overall Hindi occupancy of 29.02 per cent on Sunday, signaling a strong audience pull despite facing tough competition.

Emraan Hashmi's Ground Zero and Pratik Gandhi's biographical drama Phule released on April 25, alongside the re-release of Salman Khan and Aamir Khan's cult comedy Andaz Apna Apna, adding box officed pressure. However, Kesari 2 is ahead of all the other releases.

Kesari 2 had managed a respectable first-week collection of Rs 46.1 crore, but the second weekend's surge has given it fresh momentum. The film's performance highlights the loyalty of Akshay's fanbase, as well as the growing appreciation for patriotic narratives among moviegoers.

With positive word-of-mouth now aiding its box office journey, Kesari 2 is expected to maintain steady footfalls over the next few days. If it continues this trajectory, the film could emerge as one of the more successful post-Eid releases this year.

All eyes are now on how well it can sustain in the next two weeks.

Directed by Karan S Tyagi, Kesari 2 is set in the aftermath of the gut-wrenching Jallianwala Bagh massacre of 1919 when British officers open fired at the venue, killing hundreds of innocent men, women and children. The incident is termed as one of the darkest chapters in India's history.

The film shows Akshay as advocate C Sankaran Nair, who had sued the British government and had accused the Crown of 'genocide' post the Jallianwala Bagh massacre.
