WATCH: Ravi Bishnoi goes wild after hitting six against Jasprit Bumrah, Rishabh Pant reacts from dugout

New Delhi: The Lucknow Super Giants suffered a significant 54-run defeat against the Mumbai Indians on Sunday, marking their sixth loss of the season. LSG, chasing a challenging 216-run target at the Wankhede Stadium, were dismissed for 161. Despite the overwhelming defeat, Ravi Bishnoi of LSG hit a six off Jasprit Bumrah, a prominent Mumbai Indians bowler.

With the match nearly decided, and already holding the MI record for most wickets, Jasprit Bumrah’s bid for a five-wicket haul was thwarted by a powerful six hit by Ravi Bishnoi. Bishnoi’s aggressive shot over long-on, in response to a Bumrah delivery, was met with enthusiastic celebration.

Jasprit Bumrah subtly reacted to Kuldeep Bishnoi’s celebratory antics with a slight smile, while Lucknow’s captain, Rishabh Pant, openly chuckled and gestured towards Bishnoi from the dugout. The players’ responses to Bishnoi’s celebration were varied but noticeable.

Mumbai Indians’ strong batting performance, spearheaded by Suryakumar Yadav’s third fifty of IPL 2025, propelled their score. Yadav’s 54 runs off 28 balls, featuring eight boundaries, maintained their momentum despite a brief period of wicket losses. This performance also pushed his season total beyond 400 runs.

Mumbai Indians (MI) posted a challenging 215/7, despite Lucknow’s bowling efforts. Suryakumar and Rickelton’s strong batting performances, combined with late contributions from Naman Dhir and Corbin Bosch, proved crucial in setting a high target. Mayank Yadav and Digvesh Rathi were Lucknow’s most successful bowlers.

The Super Giants suffered a significant blow early in their innings when key batsman Aiden Markram was dismissed during the Powerplay. Despite Rishabh Pant’s return to the number four position, he was unable to contribute significantly, scoring only four runs before being caught attempting a reverse sweep. This early loss of wickets hampered the team’s recovery.
