Islamabad: Amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan after the Pahalgam terror attack, Turkey has extended its support to Islamabad and sent combat equipment. A Turkish Air Force C-130 Hercules military transport aircraft arrived in Karachi on Sunday, carrying combat equipment. As per sources, this move by Turkey is part of a wider defence cooperation between the two countries.

Apart from Karachi, as many as six Turkish C-130 aircraft have reportedly landed at a military base in Islamabad, reinforcing Turkey’s support to Pakistan as it is evident that Pakistan is unable to deal with the growing challenges on the international borders alone. Both Turkish and Pakistani sources have confirmed the transfer of military cargo. However, specific details of the shipment have not been disclosed.

Notably, Turkey is backing Pakistan at a time when regional instability is growing, especially after the terror attack in Pahalgam and the ongoing India-Pakistan conflict over Kashmir. Turkey’s military assistance to Islamabad complements similar aid from China, which has reportedly provided drones to boost the cash-strapped country’s defensive capabilities.

This strategic cooperation highlights the growing defence ties between the three countries – Turkey, Pakistan and China. Observers, who are keeping an eye on the developments, believe that these alliances are reshaping the geopolitical dynamics in South Asia.

For Pakistan, which is currently mobilising war weapons on its borders, these military deliveries are a major reinforcement amid growing threats.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) has activated key air bases like – Pensi, Skardu and Swat in response to rising regional tensions with India. The Pakistan Air Force has deployed F-16, J-10 and JF-17 fighter jets at these bases. The combat air patrols (CAP) are already underway.

The Pakistan Air Force (PAF) has activated a key airbase as part of a broader effort to enhance its defence capabilities and rapid response times. Upgrades to the Skardu airbase will allow it to serve as a crucial support center for fighter jets involved in air defence, surveillance, and combat readiness.
