Ensure that no Pakistani stays in state, SPs told

Acting upon the recent instructions in which the Central Government has revoked the visas of Pakistan nationals with immediate effect following Pahalgam terrorist attack, the Himachal Pradesh police is ensuring that no Pakistani resident stays in the state.

According to reports, there are around 13 Pakistanis who had come to Himachal on valid visas. These nationals have been directed to leave the state within the mentioned time frame. In a notification issued by the Ministry of External Affairs, it was stated that all existing valid visas issued by India to Pakistani nationals stand revoked with effect from April 27 with medical visas to be valid till April 29.

Recently, Director General of Police (DGP) Dr Atuk Verma, while chairing a meeting, had directed all the concerned Superintendents of Police (SP) to ensure that no Pakistani resident stays in the state after the aforementioned time period. The state’s police will also submit a detailed report regarding this to the Central government.

It has been mentioned that stern legal action will be taken against any Pakistani national that is found in the state after the deadline. Also, action will also be taken against those individuals who are found to accommodate Pakistani nationals.

After the terrorist attack in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir that took place on April 22, Himachal police went on a high alert and beefed up its securities in its border areas, especially in those districts that share borders with the neighbouring Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir as well as in tourists’ places.
