Dushyant slams Saini govt over ‘poor handing’ of procurement

Former Deputy Chief Minister and JJP leader Dushyant Chautala have alleged that wheat stocks are piling up in the grain markets while farmers are being forced to wait 10 to 15 days for payments for their produce during the ongoing procurement in the rabi season.

During a visit to Narnaund town of the district, Chautala said farmers urgently needed money to prepare for the next sowing season. “It reflects the inefficiency in lifting wheat from the markets,” he said and demanded that the government expedited the procurement process and ensured prompt payments to farmers.

The former Deputy CM also highlighted the worsening potable water crisis in the state, stating that both rural and urban areas were grappling with severe drinking water shortage during the summer. He said village reservoirs and ponds had dried up, and urban water supply systems were failing to meet the residents’ needs, forcing people to buy water from tankers.

He claimed the power situation in the state had deteriorated drastically. He said while rural areas were facing electricity issues, now urban areas too have been plagued by frequent and long unscheduled power cuts. He accused the BJP-led government of failing to provide basic amenities to the people.

Claiming that he worked for the welfare of the state during his tenure as Deputy CM, the JJP leader mentioned that significant development work had been carried out in Hisar during his tenure. He said crores of rupees were spent on improving Hisar’s infrastructure. Chautala further said to accelerate Hisar’s development, he initiated the elevated road project, securing an approval for Rs 750 crore.

“However, after the JJP parted ways with the state government, work on the project came to a halt and efforts are now being made to scrap it entirely,” he alleged.
