Police Commissioner honours 15 officials for exemplary service

At a special ceremony held at the Police Lines here on Saturday, the Jalandhar Commissionerate Police honoured 15 outstanding officers for their exemplary service in the ongoing anti-drug campaign, “Yudh Nashian Virudh”. The initiative is part of a broader effort to intensify the fight against drug abuse and trafficking across the region.

The event was presided over by Commissioner of Police Dhanpreet Kaur, who personally presented appreciation certificates and cash rewards to the awardees. These officers were selected for demonstrating exceptional commitment in investigations, raids, arrests and community outreach activities aimed at curbing drug-related crime in the city.

Commending their performance, Police Commissioner Dhanpreet Kaur praised the integrity and professional dedication of the officers. “The exemplary work done by these officers under the state-wide initiative ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’ not only inspires their colleagues but also strengthens the public’s trust in the police force. Their efforts are key to Jalandhar’s journey towards becoming a safer, drug-free city,” she said.

The Police Commissioner also reminded the audience that such recognition comes with responsibility, stating, “The reward for work well done is the opportunity to do more.” She emphasised the need for continuous vigilance and teamwork in the ongoing battle against drugs, noting that frontline officers must stay motivated in order to meet the campaign’s goals.

Among the senior officials present were Joint Commissioner of Police Sandeep Sharma, DCP (Investigation) Manpreet Singh Dhillon and ADCP (Investigation) Jayant Puri. They joined the Police Commissioner in lauding the officers and encouraged the entire force to follow their example.

Speaking on the campaign’s broader impact, the officials noted that ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’ has become a key focus for Punjab Police. The campaign’s success is rooted in its multi-pronged approach — targeted operations, intelligence-led enforcement and strong community engagement.

The Jalandhar Police Commissionerate’s emphasis on proactive policing, public cooperation and stringent enforcement measures has led to notable breakthroughs in recent months. Officers said that continued momentum and collective action would be essential in sustaining these achievements and further reducing the drug threat in the region.
