Valley rejects two-nation theory

Refer to ‘The messages from Baisaran’ (The Great Game); the perceptive article lays bare the savagery of the Pahalgam massacre and the inspirational solidarity of Kashmiris, particularly families like that of ponywala Syed Adil Hussain Shah. The Valley’s rejection of the divisive two-nation theory signals a long-overdue moral resurgence. Meanwhile, Pakistan’s move to keep the Kartarpur corridor open while granting SAARC visas to Sikhs, is a cynical ploy to stoke communal discord. Pakistan’s media shamelessly dubbed the carnage a ‘false flag operation’, which added insult to injury. India must respond with steely resolve to bring the perpetrators, their sponsors and co-conspirators to justice.

Kashmiris send clear message

Apropos of ‘The messages from Baisaran’; one thing is clear that terrorism serves no one’s interests and only puts humanity to shame. By coming out in large numbers, our Kashmiri brothers and sisters have sent a clear message that they do not approve of cowardly acts like the Pahalgam massacre that are being carried out in their name. If the objective of the attack was to divide Indians on the lines of religion or region, then the barbaric act has had a completely opposite effect as Indians stand more united than ever before.

Attack timed for publicity

Refer to ‘Pahalgam aftermath’; Pak Army Chief Gen Asim Munir expressed his anti-India views a week before the Pahalgam terror attack; this was not a coincidence. In his many provocative statements, Gen Munir has boasted of his country’s support to the terrorists’ struggle and also referred to Kashmir as Pakistan’s ‘jugular vein’. Pakistan seems to dislike the fact that an elected government has been established in J&K. Another fact that can’t be ignored is that the deadly attack coincided with the India visit of US Vice-President JD Vance. The perpetrators have evidently timed the attack to garner maximum publicity.

Social media fanning the flames

Refer to ‘Leave Neeraj alone’; social media has crossed all limits of decency and ethics. It is misusing the Pahalgam tragedy for vested interests. Misinformation is spreading fast on digital platforms. Even an Olympic champion and his family have not been spared. Neeraj Chopra’s mother, who had sent blessings to her son’s Pak rival Arshad Nadeem last year, is being portrayed as anti-national. Meanwhile, a couple has issued a denial on YouTube after a clip showing them dancing in Pahalgam went viral. Such misrepresentation is a blatant invasion of people’s privacy.

New breed of ultra-patriots

Apropos of ‘Leave Neeraj alone’; those who have not even achieved a fraction of what Olympic gold medallist Neeraj Chopra has are trolling him for his friendship with a competitor who happens to be a Pakistani. All the hate being spread through TV channels and social media has created a new breed of ultra-patriots ready to hit out at those they perceive to be ‘anti-nationals’. The Pahalgam attack has only worsened relations between people of the two nations.

Kasturirangan’s laurels

Any discussion on India’s space odyssey is incomplete without a mention of the late Dr Krishnaswamy Kasturirangan, former chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). From satellite missions like Bhaskara I and II, his excellent leadership gave India its first remote sensing satellite and powerhouse launch vehicle technologies like PSLV, GSLV and INSAT-2. His list of laurels is long. The nation will never forget his contribution to making Indian space research self-reliant. Kasturirangan used his academic prowess to revolutionise space research and push India forward on the path of progress. He will remain a source of inspiration for generations.
