Two held after encounter in Yamunanagar district; two illegal arms recovered

A CIA-II team of the Yamunanagar district police has arrested two persons after an encounter from near Shahpur village of the district on Sunday.

The accused have been identified as Rajat, alias Rinku, and Yatin, both residents of Marwa Khurd village of the district. The team recovered two illegal weapons from the possession of the accused allegedly involved in a robbery of mobile phones that took place in Jagadhri on Saturday night.

According to information, three miscreants allegedly looted mobile phones worth lakhs of rupees from a shop situated close to Gauri Shankar temple, in Jagadhri at gunpoint on Saturday night. After committing the loot, the miscreants fled the spot.

On the directions of Superintendent of Police, Surinder Singh Bhoria, the teams of the district police went looking for the accused.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Ashish Chaudhary said a team of the CIA-II was on patrolling duty on Saturday.

He said the team saw a motorcycle coming from Shahpur village side at about 2 am. He further said when the team signaled the riders of the motorcycle to stop, they turned their motorcycle on to the wrong side. He added that the riders hit their motorcycle with the police vehicle and fell down.

“Three persons were riding on the motorcycle. One of the motorcycle riders fled from the spot taking advantage of the darkness. However, the two other riders of the motorcycle opened fire at the police team. One bullet hit the police vehicle. The other hit a policeman, but he had a narrow escape as he was wearing a bullet proof- jacket. The third bullet hit no one,” said the DSP.

He said that while firing in retaliation, the police team fired bullets which hit the legs of the miscreants. “Both injured miscreants have been admitted at Trauma Centre, Yamunanagar. As many as six criminal cases are registered against the accused,” said DSP Sinha.

He said a case was registered against the accused at the Sadar police station, Jagadhri on Sunday.
