IPL 2025: Suresh Raina SLAMS PBKS’ Glenn Maxwell after flop knock against KKR, says ‘don’t remember…’
New Delhi: Glenn Maxwell’s poor performance in IPL 2025 continued with a low score of 7 runs against Kolkata Knight Riders. Despite returning to the team after a two-match absence, and a significant auction price of Rs 4.2 crore, he was quickly dismissed by Varun Chakravarthy. His previous contributions totaled only 41 runs, drawing criticism. His latest innings, while including a boundary, ended abruptly when he was bowled. This underwhelming performance prompted strong criticism from commentators, including Suresh Raina.
“I don’t remember the last time Glenn Maxwell made runs for the team, he has got too many chances.”
Punjab Kings posted a strong total of 201/4 against Kolkata Knight Riders in their IPL match on Saturday. This was largely due to a 120-run opening partnership between Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh, both of whom scored fifties.
Punjab Kings (PBKS), choosing to bat first, enjoyed a strong start. Priyansh, who previously scored one of the IPL’s fastest centuries, contributed a quick 69 runs from 35 balls. Prabhsimran also performed well, scoring 83 runs from 49 balls. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) bowlers struggled to contain the PBKS batsmen until the 12th over.
Kolkata Knight Riders’ bowlers Vaibhav Arora, Varun Chakravarthy, and Andre Russell took a combined three wickets. Arora claimed two, Chakravarthy one, and Russell one.
Punjab Kings replaced Marcus Stoinis and Xavier Bartlett with Glenn Maxwell and Azmatullah Omarzai.
KKR’s lineup adjustments saw Moeen Ali and Ramandeep Singh replaced by Rovman Powell and Chetan Sakariya.
