This donation of rice flour-based sattu pleases the ancestors. Rice is considered a sacred food, referred to as "haviṣya anna," meaning food for the gods. Rice is used in every yajna, and it is also beloved by ancestors. A Shradh or Tarpan cannot be performed without rice. Therefore, using rice in special ways on this day ensures the satisfaction of the ancestors.
