30% of procured wheat yet to be lifted from Yamunanagar grain markets
About 30 per cent of procured wheat is yet to be lifted from the grain markets of Yamunanagar district, causing a space crunch for the new arrival of grain. As many as 1,80,300 MT (70.35 per cent) of wheat has been lifted from all 13 grain markets of the district up to April 25.
As per the government data, 75,977 MT of wheat is lying in the grain markets here. The government agencies have purchased a total 2,56,277 MT of wheat so far in the district.
The highest 89.74 per cent wheat (34,872 MT) has been lifted from the Saraswati Nagar grain market followed by 83.79 per cent (212 MT) from the Yamunanagar grain market, 79.85 per cent (30,511 MT) from Jagadhri grain market, 77.85 per cent (6,258 MT) from the Rasulpur grain market and 74.76 per cent (22,586 MT) from the Pratap Nagar grain market.
Similarly, 74 per cent wheat (21,810 MT) has been lifted from the Chhachhrauli grain market followed by 72.60 per cent (3113 MT) from the Kharwan grain market, 69.40 per cent (6,770 MT) from the Ranjeetpur grain market, 61.34 per cent (2,526 MT) from the Jathlana grain market, 60.35 per cent (23,172 MT) from the Radaur grain market, 54.38 per cent (9,726 MT) from the Sadhaura grain market, 53.29 per cent (16,240 MT) from the Bilaspur grain market and 39.62 per cent (2,504 MT) from the Gumthala Rao grain market.
Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Shyam Singh Rana, who conducted a surprise inspection in the Chhachhrauli grain market in Yamunanagar district, gave necessary directions to the District Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Controller (DFSC), Yamunanagar, to ensure timely lifting of wheat purchased from the Chhachhrauli and other grain markets of the district.
Deputy Commissioner, Yamunanagar Parth Gupta said procurement and lifting works of wheat was going on smoothly in all grain markets of the district. He said that instructions had been issued to provide all necessary facilities to farmers, arthiyas and labourers in the grain markets.
