Doctors discuss neonatal care

The second Continuing Medical Education (CME) programme organised by the Indian Medical Association (IMA) Jalandhar brought together nearly 250 medical professionals, spotlighting crucial healthcare topics including neonatal care, CBC analysis and infection control measures.

Civil Surgeon Dr Gurmeet Lal was the chief guest at the event. The IMA president, Dr MS Bhutani, formally welcomed the gathering, while Secretary Dr Pooja Kapoor conducted the proceedings.

The programme featured sessions that provided insights into medical challenges and advancements. Dr Gurdev Chaudhary emphasised the importance of neonatal care, particularly the role of early breastfeeding and timely detection of congenital heart diseases in newborns. He highlighted how prompt intervention can reduce infant mortality.

Dr Dixsa Chaudhary explained how modern analytical techniques allow for earlier diagnosis of a wide range of conditions — from infections to blood disorders — thereby improving overall patient management.

Dr Gomti Mahajan discussed the need for stringent infection control protocols. She shared international best practices and urged healthcare institutions to regularly review and update their infection prevention strategies to safeguard both patients and staff.
