Delhi CM inaugurates development projects in Shalimar Bagh
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Saturday inspected ongoing development works and inaugurated new projects in the Shalimar Bagh Assembly Constituency, covering G & JU Block Pitampura, CA Block Seva Basti, and U & V Block Shalimar Bagh.
During her visit, the CM reviewed key infrastructure projects, including the construction of new roads and the installation of pipelines and drainage systems in Seva Basti. She announced that clean parks and swings for children would also be developed in the slum areas, aiming to enhance living conditions for residents.
Recognising the growing concern of drug addiction in slum clusters, Gupta directed the Delhi Police to take strict action and emphasised the government’s commitment to ensuring a safe and healthy environment. “We are determined to provide water, roads, toilets, parks and all basic amenities to every citizen living in slums, so that no one is left behind in the race for development,” she said.
Expressing sorrow over the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, she noted that the prevailing atmosphere of grief had led to the cancellation of any ceremonial welcome or formal inauguration events. “Today, not only Delhi but the entire nation mourns the tragedy. In such times, celebrations hold no meaning,” she said.
She highlighted the commencement of several crucial works, including the laying of water pipelines to address the chronic water shortage in Delhi’s slums and the construction of new roads in U & V Block to ease traffic and improve the standard of living. She instructed officials to ensure that the streets within the colony were built in an aesthetically pleasing manner and elevate the central park to prevent waterlogging, thereby creating a safer play area for children.
Gupta also interacted with women residents of the slum areas, listening to their concerns about the rising drug menace. Taking immediate note, she ordered decisive action against drug trade and abuse, underscoring her administration’s zero-tolerance policy towards the issue.
The CM directed the departments concerned to complete all projects within stipulated timelines while maintaining the highest standards of quality and transparency. “Our mission is to ensure continuous development across Delhi, with basic facilities reaching every citizen on time,” she said.
