Police conduct special training workshop to boost VIP security

The police conducted a two-week Practical Training and Workshop for Personal Security Officers (PSOs) from April 14 to 26 under the leadership of Raj Kumar Singh, IPS, Director General of Police (Officiating) and Sumer Partap Singh, IPS, Senior Superintendent of Police (Security and Traffic).

The programme was organised to strengthen the operational readiness of PSOs, considering the frequent visits of VIPs and VVIPs to Chandigarh. The training was conducted under the expert guidance of a National Security Guard (NSG) team comprising officers including Dinesh Kumar Sambhrwal, Ashok Kumar P, Tarun Rawat and others.

A total of 49 PSOs from Chandigarh, Punjab and Haryana Police participated. The workshop covered critical aspects of VIP protection, especially during motorcade movements, and included sessions on safety protocols.

Dinesh Kumar, SP/NSG, remained present throughout, personally addressing queries and ensuring the training’s effectiveness.

The police highlighted that the primary goal of the initiative was to enhance the professional competence, emergency response capability, and firearms proficiency of PSOs, thereby ensuring top-tier security arrangements for VIPs and VVIPs visiting the city.
