Karnataka High Court Bars Coercive Action Against IAF Officer In Road Rage Case

The Karnataka High Court has issued an interim order preventing Bengaluru police from taking any coercive action against Indian Air Force Wing Commander Shiladitya Bose in connection with a road rage incident reported earlier this week.

Justice Hemant Chandangoudar passed the order on April 24 while hearing a petition filed by the officer, who sought to quash the FIR registered against him, as per a report on PTI.

The altercation occurred near C V Raman Nagar on April 21. Initially, Bose lodged a complaint claiming he was physically assaulted by a call centre employee, Vikas Kumar S J. Acting on his statement, police registered the first FIR. However, Kumar later filed a counter-complaint, resulting in a second FIR being lodged—this time against the IAF officer.

In its interim ruling, the court directed the police not to summon or take any coercive steps against Wing Commander Bose without following due process. It further instructed that no chargesheet should be filed in the case without the court’s prior approval.

The court emphasised, however, that the petitioner must continue cooperating with the investigation.
