Mohanlal ‘deeply moved’ by fan response to Thudarum: ‘It is a true blessing’

Following the highly anticipated release of Prithviraj Sukumaran directorial L2: Empuraan starring Mohanlal, the actor debuted his latest film yesterday, Thudarum. The film, directed by Tharun Moorthy, has garnered rave reviews from critics and audiences alike, many hailing it the return of “OG Lalettan”, a name coined by fans early in his career. Thudarum holds added significance as it reunites Shobana and Mohanlal, an iconic on-screen pair of the 80s and 90s.

The overload of love hit the production like a truck, with the lead actor himself thanking his fans for their support and appreciation. In an Instagram post, Mohanlal penned, I’m deeply moved and truly humbled by the love and heartfelt response for #Thudarum. Each message and every word of appreciation has touched me in ways I can’t fully express.”

“Thank you for opening your hearts to this story, for seeing its soul, and for embracing it with such grace. This gratitude is not mine alone. It belongs to every single person who walked this journey with me, giving their love, effort, and spirit to every frame,” he continued.

He further thanked also those who worked in the production of the film, as well as his co-stars, namely Renjith M, Tharun Moorthy, KR Sunil, Shobhana, Binu Pappu, Prakash Varma, Shaji Kumar, Jakes Bejoy Nishad Yusuf, and Shafeeque V B. “Your artistry and passion made Thudarum what it is,” he said.

“This film was made with care, with purpose, and above all, with truth. To see it resonate so deeply is more than a reward. It is a true blessing,” Mohanlal concluded.

About Thudarum

Thudarum follows taxi driver Shanmugham, who cherishes one possession above all – his precious Ambassador car – which he cares for like his own. When it goes missing into thin air, Shanmugham stops at nothing to retrieve the beloved vehicle. Directed by Tharun Moorthy, the film features Mohanlal, Shobana, Farhaan Faasil, Maniyanpilla Raju, and Binu Pappu.

According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film grossed Rs 6.10 crore on its opening day.
