Winners of the 2024 IMC Ramkrishna Bajaj Quality Awards Announced
In a grand celebration of organizational excellence, the prestigious IMC Ramkrishna Bajaj National Quality Awards (RBNQA) marked its 28th award cycle on Wednesday by recognizing Indian organizations in quality, innovation, and performance excellence across diverse sectors. The event also recognises outstanding individual contributions with the esteemed IMC Juran Quality Medal.
Named in honor of the visionary industrialist and former IMC President, Late Ramkrishna Bajaj, the IMC RBNQ Awards have grown to become one of the country’s most respected quality awards. True to its legacy, the award process is known for its rigorous assessment standards, comprehensive evaluation cycles, and an unwavering commitment to organizational growth. The Juran Quality Medal, awarded by the IMC RBNQA Trust, holds the unique distinction of being the only medal to bear the name of Dr Joseph M. Juran, revered worldwide as the Father of Quality. This prestigious recognition is the highest honour bestowed upon individuals who exemplify excellence and serve as role models in their respective fields. Acknowledging the honour of receiving the prestigious IMC Juran Quality Medal, Dr Girdhar Gyani highlighted the significant strides India has made in healthcare, noting that the country's appeal as a destination for “medical tourism” is a testament to its quality of care. He emphasized the dramatic improvement in life expectancy—from just 37 years in 1947 to approximately 73 years today—as a clear indicator of progress. However, Dr Gyani also raised a critical concern about the stark disparities in healthcare access, particularly in rural areas, describing current conditions as 'abysmal' and backing his statement with compelling statistics. He called for a united effort from the government, private sector, and individuals to substantially increase India’s healthcare spending as a percentage of GDP in order to meet global standards. The 2024 awards continued this tradition of excellence, celebrating outstanding achievements in the manufacturing, service, education, healthcare and overseas sectors.
