BJP govt left crumbling education system in state: Rohit Thakur

Education Minister Rohit Thakur today said that the allegations levelled by Leader of the Opposition Jai Ram Thakur on the education sector in the state were as hollow as the promises he had made during his tenure as Chief Minister.

“His claims are a desperate attempt to mislead the public and divert attention from the serious failures of the previous BJP regime in the education sector. If anyone should be questioned about education, it is the BJP, which left behind a crumbling system, not the Congress government which is rebuilding it with strong commitment and vision,” said the minister.

The minister said that education was a pitiable condition when the Congress government came to power, with over 3,600 schools having only one teacher and 350 schools functioning without a teacher. “Around 15,000 posts were vacant and 90 per cent posts of college principal were vacant. The previous BJP government had reduced education to a mere election gimmick, opening hundreds of schools without infrastructure, teachers or students,” he said.
