What is prohibited to carry in the train?

According to the rules of the Railways, it is prohibited to carry stoves, gas cylinders, flammable chemicals, firecrackers, things with strong smell (like leather or wet skin), oil, cigarettes and explosive items in the train. Apart from this, carrying a special fruit dry coconut is also completely banned. There is a danger of fire due to the fibrous grass growing on the outer part of the dry coconut. This is the reason why it is prohibited to carry it in the train. The outer fibrous part of the dry coconut is flammable, which can pose a threat to the safety of the train and passengers. However, you can easily carry other fruits like fresh coconut or other fruits in the train.

Punishment for breaking the rules

If a passenger carries prohibited items in the train, the railway can take action against him. Under Section 165 of the Railway Act 1989, if a passenger is found disturbing others after consuming alcohol, his ticket can be cancelled immediately. If he has a railway pass, his pass can also be cancelled. If found guilty, there can be a jail term of 6 months and a fine of Rs 500. There can be a fine of Rs 1000 and three years imprisonment or both for carrying prohibited items. If the passenger causes damage to railway property, the passenger will have to compensate for it.

Strictness on alcohol and intoxication

According to the rules of the railway, no passenger can travel in a train after consuming alcohol or in a state of intoxication. If a passenger disturbs others after consuming alcohol, immediate action can be taken against such people by the railway. If you want to take your pet, there are different rules for this. Special rules apply to those with AC First Class tickets. Carrying some animals like horses or goats is allowed. Carrying gas cylinders is prohibited, but in case of medical emergency it may be allowed with certain conditions.
