Shocker! Assam Woman, Daughter Sold In Pune's Budhwar Peth For ₹5 Lakh, FIR Names Cop From Farashkhana Police Station
A case of human trafficking and sexual exploitation has come to light in Pune, where a 25-year-old woman from Assam and her six-year-old daughter were brought to Pune and sold in the red light area of Budhwar Peth. Shockingly, she has also alleged the involvement of a police constable posted at Farashkhana Police Station.
The accused have been identified as Shafiul Abul Nasur Wahid Alam, Papa Shaikh, Adhura Shiva Kamli and a policeman from Faraskhana Police Station referred to as 'DB wala'.
According to the FIR, the victim belongs to the Nagaon district of Assam. She married in 2018 to Saddam Hussain, a vegetable vendor from her village, and suffered constant domestic abuse by him after giving birth to a girl. Her husband had an addiction to alcohol and gambling.
Meanwhile, struggling with abuse and a difficult home life, she met 28-year-old Shafiul Alam five months ago while he was visiting her husband's vegetable shop. Over time, their interaction turned into a relationship. Alam allegedly promised to marry her and help her start a new life in Pune along with her daughter.
On December 29, 2024, the victim left her home with her daughter and travelled with Alam to his village before flying to Pune on January 1, 2025. From Pune Airport, Alam took her to Budhwar Peth and sold her along with her daughter for Rs 5 lakh to Papa Shaikh and Adhura Shiva Kamli. The mother-daughter duo were separated and the woman was forced into prostitution.
'Forced into having unnatural sex with the cop'
The victim mentioned in the FIR that despite her unwillingness, she was repeatedly forced by Adhura Shiva Kamli and Papa Sheikh to have sexual relations with various customers. They even brought a police constable (DB-wala), and threatened her into having unnatural sex with him. "I was raped and abused multiple times under threat and coercion by this policeman and these human traffickers," she stated.
Regarding the matter, a case has been registered in Farashkhana Police station under sections 97, 142, 99, 64, 62, 3(5), 351(2), 115(2), 127(4), 137(2), of Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita and sections 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 of Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act.
'Police constable yet to be identified'
Speaking to The Free Press Journal, Sandeep Singh Gill (Deputy Commissioner of Police) said, "The victim is a native of Assam and came to Pune on the promise of marriage by her boyfriend. The lady accused Adhura Shiva Kamli has been detained and the rest will be arrested soon. The matter of allegation against the policeman is under investigation. He has not been identified yet. Further investigation is underway."
How did the victim file the complaint?
Sangharsha Sena (Dharmarakshak Dal) member Santosh Sathe told this newspaper that the victim succeeded in escaping from the redlight area and approached his friends near the Shrimant Dagdusheth Halwai Mandir. "Later, she asked for help and narrated the whole story. Accordingly, we took her to the Bharti Vidyapeeth Police Station as she refused to go to the Farashkhana Police Station due to the involvement of a police constable from there. She said that she was unable to do anything earlier as her daughter was in the custody of the accused," he added.
