Campus notes: Speed Skating Championship

The All India Speed Skating Championship 2025 was held at Chandigarh in which the players from Seth Hukam Chand SD Public Senior Secondary School took part and won medals. In the under-14 category, Nishchay Kundra won two bronze. In the under-17 category, Suhas won two gold medals and Hargunpreet Singh won two bronze. In the under-19 category, Hardik Arora won two gold medals. The winners have been selected for the Indo-Nepal Speed Skating International Championship 2025, to be held in Nepal in June. The school management and Principal Mamta Bahl congratulated the parents of winners and coach Vikas for the hard work.

World Heritage Day

Jalandhar: St Soldier institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology celebrated the World Heritage Day by conducting many competitions like slogans-writing, poster-making, model-making, Brainiac quiz and cooking competition. A total of nine teams were formed. In quiz competition, the team of Jasmeen, Munish and Muskan got a gold medal, Rajdeep Kaur, Tamanna and Komal Preet Kaur took silver and Sourav, Sumit and Haris Farooq bagged a bronze medal. In model-making, Munish and Jasmeen won the first position, Ram Sharma, Rohit, Rohit Kumar and Harshvir Rai took the second position and Sharanjot, Kartik, Ramit Bhupinder, Alisha clinched the third position. In poster-making competition, Jasmeen, Amandeep Kaur and Sharanjot Singh won the top three positions. The slogan-writing contest was won by Mehak. A presentation on the seven wonders of the world was made by Prof Kunal Sharma to enhance the heritage knowledge of the students. College Principal Kirti Sharma motivated the students to organise more such activities in future.

JEE Main Examination

Jalandhar: State Public School student M. Nawajis Malik cleared the JEE Main Examination with 99.1 percentile. This performance reflected upon Nawajis’s unwavering commitment and the efforts of his teachers and mentors. President Dr Narotam Singh, vice-president Dr Gagandeep Kaur and Principal Savina Bahl extended their heartfelt congratulations to Nawajis and his family, and wished him continued success as he prepares for the JEE Advanced. His success is a moment of great pride for the entire school community, said the principal. The students of Swami Sant Dass Public School have also got a good result in the exam. Gurpal Singh scored 98.26 percentile, Raaghav Duggal 96.008, Diya Handa 95.28, Aarush Arora 94.16, Riyanshika 93.84, Tarunvir Dogra 91.05, Aparan 90.36 and Raghav Anand 90.13 percentile. Swami Shantanand, president of the school, and Principal Dr Sonia Mago congratulated the students and their parents on the achievement.

Earth Day

Ivy World playschool celebrated Earth Day under the guidance of Headmistress Shefali Sharma. The day began with a fun and interactive assembly where students learned about the Earth, its resources and the ways in which they can help to protect it. The students participated in a range of activities that promoted environmental awareness and sustainability and learned about the importance of reducing, reusing and recycling.

Microbiology workshop by LPU

Jalandhar: Eklavya School conducted workshops on different topics for students to make them aware about their future and to motivate them. The faculty from Lovely Professional University organised a workshop in the school premises. The objective of conducting the workshop was to make the students aware about adulteration in spices. Gurleen (Assistant Professor in Microbiology Department at LPU) was the resource person. She explained to the students how bacteria build their colonies by using petri plates. After that, she showed different slides of bacteria under high resolution compound microscopes. She explained to the students about adulteration in different spices. She taught the students how to check whether the spices like red chilli, black pepper, turmeric and coriander are pure or adulterated. Seema Handa, Director, said, “Such kind of workshops help the students to become aware about their health.”

World Earth Day at The Gurukul

World Earth Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm in ‘The Gurukul’ School. An assembly was organised in the school in which the students threw light on the importance of this day through speeches and poetry recitation. A poster-making activity was also conducted in which all the students participated enthusiastically and showed various aspects of environmental protection. A plantation activity was also organised for the students in which the students planted saplings of different species. School Director Sushma Handa wished all the students a Happy Earth Day and also inspired them to keep the environment safe. Principal Radha Gakhar told everyone to keep the environment safe and plant as many trees as possible.

Wushu Championship

Jalandhar: The 17th District Wushu Championship 2025 was organised in Police DAV Public School. In the under-19 and 56 kg category, Gaurav Saini of Class XI of CJS Public School brought laurels to the school by winning a bronze medal. Chairperson Neena Mittal and Principal Rashmi Sharma appreciated his efforts and motivated him to perform excellently in future as well.

World Earth Day

Jalandhar: Eco Club for Mission Life of Shiv Jyoti Public School took the initiative to implement the guidelines of Ministry of Education by putting up QR codes on flora in and around the school campus to commemorate the World Earth Day. The students tagged QR code on plants. They learnt how to scan QR code and get information about the plants. Students of classes VI to IX were made aware about how to install QR code and read the particular information about the plant through QR code scan. Students took a pledge to save their planet and promised to plant trees and look after them. Principal Parveen Saili appreciated the efforts made by Eco Club of the school.
