Campus notes: NCC enrolment in Ashok Vatika
A special enrollment campaign was organised in the campus of Ashok Vatika Public School under the guidance of principal Anchal Mahajan and CO Barendra Kumar of 11 Punjab NCC Battalion. The caretaker Ravi Kumar and Kunal Sahdev, sports teacher, motivated the young students to join NCC for the betterment of not only their health but for their future also. They inspired the students to be disciplined, dedicated and committed towards becoming good citizens. The young learners were told about the benefits of joining the NCC for seeking career opportunities, especially in the defence forces. The students of Grade 8 and 9 presented themselves in strength to get enrolled in NCC.
AGC hosts Mental Mettle event
The Department of Management Studies of Amritsar Group of Colleges hosted a high-energy 7th Inter-College Business Quiz, “Mental Mettle—2025,” bringing together some of the brightest minds with a passion for business, finance and current affairs. The event was organised in collaboration with ET in campus. The objective of the event was to nurture curiosity, critical thinking and a deep understanding of the corporate world among the participants. More than 100 students from different colleges of the region participated with great aplomb. The event had two rounds: preliminary and final. On the basis of scores in the first round, four teams were selected for the final round. The first winning team was given a cash prize of Rs 3,000 and gift hampers. The second winning team was given a cash prize of Rs 2,000 and gift hampers and the runners-up were awarded gift hampers. Dr Gaurav Tejpal, Principal, Amritsar Group of Colleges, said, “The quiz was not just a test of knowledge but a celebration of learning and collaboration. We’re proud to see such talent and passion for business among the youth.”
DAV College conducts seminar
The Department of Political Science of DAV College, in collaboration with ‘Political Science Association’ under the aegis of Institution’s Innovation Council, organised a seminar on ‘Constitutional amendments for economic growth of India’. Principal of the college and president of the IIC, Dr Amardeep Gupta inaugurated the event. Dr Gupta encouraged the students to hone different skills by participating in the activities being organised by the IIC so as to get ready for the fast changing market as they pass out from the college. Resource person Dr Gaurav Sharma, Assistant Professor in Political Science, highlighted the relevance of the theme. He explained how the political system of a country is intertwined with the economic system in complex ways. He threw light on the evolution of Indian economy since India’s independence with relevant statistics and how various amendments to the Constitution have paved the way for the Indian economy to become one of the robust and fastest growing economies of the world at present. Special reference was made to the policies of liberalisation, privatisation and globalisation adopted by India in the early 1990s. He discussed key constitutional amendments like 42nd, 44th, 73rd, 74th, 101st and 103rd and the economic reforms undertaken to enhance fiscal federalism, ease of doing business, infrastructure development, GST reforms, land acquisition flexibility and labour law modernisation to boost investment and job creation. The event highlighted the role of the Constitution in fostering a robust economic framework.
World Earth Day at Goodwill
The Eco Club of Goodwill International School celebrated Earth Day at its school campus. Sarabsukhdeep Kaur, a student of class 8, presented a speech on the occasion. In her speech, she explained that this is a global event focused on raising awareness about environmental issues and promoting action to protect the planet. It’s a day to learn about ecological preservation, the importance of clean air and water, and the impact of human actions on the environment. By understanding the history, significance and various ways to celebrate Earth Day, individuals can actively participate in efforts to create a more sustainable future. Chairman Gurdial Singh also gave an informative speech on this day. Principal Amandeep Singh explained that the theme for Earth Day 2025 is “Our Power, Our Planet”. He said this theme highlights the importance of conserving natural resources and emphasises the power of nature in protecting our planet. Earth Day 2025 also coincides with World Water Day, and the theme also encourages water conservation and responsible water management.
